Virtual Knitting Belt Class Review

Unpaid class review by Knitter Nadine Buntenbeck

Last week I attended an online class by @janettebudge about knitting with a knitting belt. Even though I’ve been knitting with a belt since 2017 now, being self-taught, I wanted to learn from a well versed knitting belt user.
.
And of course – there were still new things to learn for me! 😍 I am very glad that I finally managed to knit with only three needles in total without it feeling awkward or creating any gaps – something that was always a mystery to me. Because as Janette said: The less needles you use, the faster you become with your knitting.
.
Also, you can see in the second pic how even the stitches become with the help of a belt. The knitting at the top of the piece is made with a belt, the knitting at the bottom is made with dpns.
.
Janette is a very good tutor and the tutorial videos you get access to after the zoom introduction are very well made. There are also a few Q&A zoom sessions in a few weeks’ time, so for anyone who is interested in learning to knit with a belt, this is a very good way to learn. If you’d like to try but are afraid to – don’t be! As Janette says in one of her videos
.
“It’s not difficult, it’s just new!” 😉
.
It’s also always so nice to hear the very charming Shetland accent being spoken! 😍 😉
.
I cannot stress enough the benefits of knitting with a belt – it is one of the most ergonomic ways of knitting, because motion is minimized. By this, you not only become faster, but you can also knit for longer times without fatigue! I started to learn knitting with a belt because of this, because I have a few people in my family and surroundings who said they have always liked to knit, but cannot anymore because of aches in wrists, shoulders, thumbs and so on. By knitting with a belt, I hope I am able to prevent this from happening to me.

Grateful thanks to Nadine for such a detailed and kind review of my class. If you’d like to learn how to use a Shetland knitting belt, otherwise known as a ‘makkin belt’ in Shetland. Sign up for my class here
